Modern technology has given us many entertainment conveniences. Nearly everyone has access to endless archived knowledge through the internet. In terms of literature, this has given individuals access to countless works from the past and present. So, as part of National Reading Month, we’d like to highlight the works of various authors and writers. It might be a short list, but it will give you a lot of reading selections, whether on paper or screen.

Past Authors

Let us start with Emily Dickinson, an 1800s poet who developed several poems and books during her time, including “Hope,” “The Thing with Feathers,” and “Because I Could Not Stop for Death.” A 19th-century author you might have heard of is Hans Christian Andersen; if not, you might know his work, fairytale classics like “The Ugly Duckling,” “Thumbelina,” and The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Although both writers have long passed, their works remain for us to read and continue to learn from.
