Have you ever asked yourself, “Why do I feel this way?” Many of us believe our emotions stem from our mentality or biology. We often search for answers through scientific facts. But what if the explanation goes deeper than our material understanding? What if our feelings and thoughts aren’t just psychological or clinical but are connected to something bigger than science can explain? There might be a definitive answer to these questions—beyond the tangible world—but to access it requires a cognitive leap into the unknown.

The Belts of the Zodiacs

In astronomy, scholars use the alignment of stars to understand people’s emotions and personalities. The planets in our solar system travel in the same plane along a wide belt of constellations known as the Zodiac. The Zodiac consists of twelve signs: Aries (Ram), Taurus (Bull), Gemini (Twins), Cancer (Crab), Leo (Lion), Virgo (Virgin), Libra (Balance), Scorpio (Scorpion), Sagittarius (Archer), Capricorn (Goat), Aquarius (Water Bearer), and Pisces (Fish). Different cultures have their own Zodiac animals; for example, the Chinese Zodiac features animals like the Rat, Tiger, and Dragon, among others.

The Zodiacs On Display

Astrology gives insight into your personality traits and reveals which signs you might be compatible with. Since relationships are a standard part of life, it makes sense that the Zodiac would find its way into popular media. One example is the manga series Saint Seiya by Masami Kurumada. It tells the story of Seiya, an orphan sent to Greece to retrieve the Pegasus Bronze Cloth and compete in a tournament to reunite with his sister. Along his journey, he meets others who wear armor, or “Cloths,” based on Zodiac animals, each with unique abilities.

Toei Animation adapted the manga into anime in 1986, rebooting the series in 2019. Another popular example of the Zodiac, particularly the Chinese version, can be found in the animated TV series Jackie Chan Adventures (2000). The show follows a fictionalized version of Jackie Chan, an archaeologist and shopkeeper in San Francisco. After a run-in with the crime syndicate “The Dark Hand,” Jackie embarks on a quest to find twelve magical talismans representing the Chinese Zodiac. Each talisman holds unique mystical powers, such as the Dragon’s ability to produce fire or the Dog’s gift of eternal youth.

Alignment of Stars

As you can see, our emotions and personalities are connected to something as ancient as the stars. But as humans, we often defy expectations. Just because astrological analysis exists doesn’t mean everything is set in stone. We have the power to shape our destinies, which makes life rich and diverse. We may stick to routines for a while, but change is inevitable.

And as intelligent beings, we adapt. So, what’s next in your life?
