Like many things that need to be built from the ground up, there needs to be a foundation to build off of. A script or screenplay is such a foundation in which a show or movie can be based and made from. So, we’ll be wrapping up Disability Awareness and National Reading Month with a dive into this topic. We will be looking at screen and script writers with disabilities who’ve created several pieces of media. To see what foundations they’ve made to build their works and career .
Dedication to Writing
We’d like to start by taking a deeper look at someone from a previous blog, a writer with dyslexia, John Lrving. In our previous article we’ve only talked about a small portion of his career as a book author and screenplay writer. However, in an interview with Dyslexia. Yale, he talks about how much hard work he put into improving his writing skills due to his dyslexia. He understood that he would have to work twice as hard and because of that he appreciated the effort of writing. And as a result of his dedication, he’s not only written several books, scripts for films and acted in a few films.
John Lrving has written several books and films, many of which were based on his novels. A prime example is the 1999 film The Cider House Rules which was based on the novel of the same name. He’s also acted in a few of his novel to film adaptations, along with the many interviews he’s on talk shows.
In Memory of Dedication
Our next focus will go on recently passed away scriptwriter with aspersions, Raymond Thompson. A hard working, devoted writer and producer who has worked in the entertainment industry since the 1980’s. In addition to his many works on TV, he founded Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment Group. An organization that has multiple avenues including entertainment and a charity focus on support for children with aspersions. His contributions not only to the entertainment industry, but to many of the Cloud 9 organizations will be missed.
Raymond Thompson has written and produced several UK TV productions for several years. He’s most known for his work on series like 1999 The Tribe and Revelations: The Initial Journey in 2002. His producing work spans from nearly each project he’s written for, including (2005) The New Tomorrow.
Closing thoughts
There are many things that make writing difficult on a consistent basis, both physical and mentally. And for these neurotically individuals it was an obstacle on their journey and careers. What we hope you can take away from this article is that no matter the limitations you might have, it can’t hold you back. So don’t throw out that rough draft, it could be the foundation of a much bigger production.
