In this premiere episode of The Able Show, we interview Davina Douthard, the creator and executive producer, and shares her inspiration for creating the show. This episode discusses the reason the show was created and why it is necessary. Her company, Polishing The Professional, helping individuals with disabilities find employment, led her to where we are today. The Able Show is a series of productions that include a podcast, talk show, and docuseries staffed by individuals with disabilities. The Able Show aims to establish a seat at the table and give an authentic voice to those living with a disability by creating a real opportunity to live, work, and thrive in entertainment.
The 30-minute, 22-26 episodic talk show began casting in November 2022. Pre-production commenced in January 2023; shooting and post-production started in November 2023. The show’s first season will air from January 2024.
The Able Show podcast will be filmed at Dream Magic Studios. A 40,000 sq ft production studio in the Los Angeles area. (Canoga Park). Silverbird Entertainment, an international entertainment conglomerate with top-rated theaters, television stations, radio stations, and studios in Africa and the U.S., owns the studio. The studio has hosted many top companies, including BET.
Through training programs and paid internships, individuals with disabilities learn their roles with assistance. Interns are cast in production roles based on abilities, not disabilities.
Celebrities, Influencers, Politicians, Legislators & Other Authorities: Celebrities (actors, artists, musicians, athletes, comedians) will appear on the show to promote their current book, film, television show, sporting event, album, and themselves appealingly, thereby coming to be seen as a good stop for publicity. The show will host political, legislative, and community leaders fighting the good fight for the disabled community and those who seem to miss the mark. Lastly, we will also invite guests who are leaders in their areas of interest, such as love, romance, business, employment, health and wellness, safety, crime, and other topics of interest to our audience.
