Kathy Kollais an award-winning director, actress, and screenwriter best known for her roles in TV series such as Arrested Development (FOX), American Dreams (NBC), Eve (Warner Bros.), and Mr. Show with Bob and David(HBO). In the award-winning film Plastic Daydream, Kolla wrote, directed, and starred opposite Shari Belafonte (The Morning Show, Tyler Perry’s Sistas). In 2018, she was honored with the Best Director award for the drama Plastic Daydream at the prestigious LA Live Film Festival.

Who Is Billy Bones?

Kolla’s music documentary and premiere feature film, Who Is Billy Bones? (Amazon Prime) stars Mike Dirnt (Green Day) and Chas T. Gray (Wall of Voodoo) premiered at the Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles in 2015. The documentary focuses on the life of Steven “Billy Bones” Fortuna, lead singer of the early Los Angeles punk rock band The Skulls. Who Is Billy Bones? was acquired by the cable television network KCETLink Media Group in 2016. It began airing nationwide on LinkTV and in Southern California on KCET in June 2016.

VegHead

Kathy Kolla is a vegan and has an upcoming project titled VegHead, a comedy television series about vegan cooking with a bit of laughter on the side. Kolla’s advocacy for animal rights and veganism is not just a personal interest but a significant part of her identity. Her work in this area has earned her features in VegNews magazine, further solidifying her commitment to these causes. Her commitment to environmental issues was also recognized, with her documentary The Great Los Angeles River earning second-place honors at the 2013 Going Green Film Festival.

Kathy Kolla’s journey in the film industry began with a resounding success. Her debut short film, Another Day, Another Dime, won the 2009 Audience Choice award at the Flint Film Festival in Flint, Michigan. This early triumph paved the way for the film’s acquisition by the television network Shorts HD in 2014 and its subsequent airing in the United States on November 16, 2014.
