Formally known as Starving Darling, my prior band has performed all over Los Angeles. In the past, when I performed on stage with my band, I felt the kick drum in my chest and the rhythm in my head. The adrenaline rush was so powerful. Back then, I felt so alive performing with my band and hanging out with friends.

When I attend other people’s shows, it’s incredible. Playing music live, for an adoring crowd, is a form of therapy. You get to sing your feelings and emotions out. Recently, I performed at a coffee shop for the first time in five years. I played my song called ‘Match in The Dark.’  I enjoyed singing, and the audience cheered and applauded.

Preparing for performing live can be at times very nerve-racking. However, personally I don’t experience stage fright at all. I get excited and thrilled when I perform live. Playing live gives me energy and enjoyment because of the audience. Being able to play my music live is a fantastic gift. I feel lucky that I can perform and write songs and have received a lot of praise for my songwriting. Although the band is no longer together, I continue to perform a one-woman show.

I started performing on guitar when I was 22 years old. My music has changed in ways I never knew would happen. During the pandemic, I learned the keyboard and proudly, now a composer. I have licensed two tracks in the last two years. My future music endeavors are to write and record piano vocal songs and perform at open mics. I want to sing the vocal accompaniment while the backing track is playing and write and perform new songs on the guitar.

The piano is also dear to my heart since my mom is a professional pianist. When I was younger, and my mom played the piano, I often cried because the piano had such a beautiful sound. The piano sound is soothing and pleasing to my ears; it is a magical instrument and a rare gem. Since I was a kid, I have felt so much emotion through my mother’s music, and her music still makes me emotional to this day. She had a new wave band in the 70s and 80s; it’s lovely to channel my mom’s energy and imagine what it was like when she performed in her new band.

The joy of going to shows and playing shows is a great gift. Music brings people together and forms communities and friendships. I love going to musical performances and sharing my gifts with the world.
